SMC connector is one kind of coaxial RF connectors which has same interface dimension as SMB connector, but SMC has thread mating design.
SMC connectors also are available either in 50ohm or 75ohm impedance. 50ohm SMB connectors usually was specified up to 4GHz, and 75ohm SMB connectors are specified for only 2GHz.
SMC connectors are designed originally with female contact in male body or male contact in female body. SMC connector especially is suitable for mobile applications with low VSWR.
Mechanical Feature:

- Inner thread of 10-32UNF-2B inside coupling nut with 3.952 to 4.165mm inner diameter
- Female center contact
- Insulator surrounds female center contact wholly for 50ohm SMC male
SMC female
- Outer thread of 10-32UNF-2A on body with 4.651 to 4.803mm outer diameter
- Male center contact
- Insulator nestles up throughout against outer contact. An air gap between insulator and male center contact for 50ohm SMC female

The coupling nut has thread inside and the inner diameter is around 4mm.

There is a smooth area of dia. 3.65mm, and 3.0mm length before SMC female outer thread.

The cable entry way or PCB terminated way is at 90 degrees against coupling way.

SMC connector female/ jack bulkhead type:
When thread length is much longer than 3.5mm, the spared thread will be for mounting on panel with washer and nut. And this type can be defined the SMC connector is bulkhead type.
1) Rear mount type bulkhead

PCB type SMC connector normally has 2.9mm or 3.9mm leg lengths. Four legs and one conductor will go through PCB vertically, and be soldered in rear side of PC board.
